No One Can Arrest Me!! …Prophet Kusi Boateng

Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral, Prophet Victor Kusi Boateng, has denied reports that he was attempting to escape from Ghana but was arrested and detained by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB). He insists the reports are false and misleading.

Several media outlets recently reported that the clergyman was attempting to escape from Ghana when he was arrested by the NIB and subsequently detained as part of an investigation into allegations of possessing multiple identities and funds of the National Cathedral project.

However, in a video shared on X on March 15, Rev. Kusi Boaten, Founder of Power Chapel Worldwide, dismissed the reports while addressing his congregation during a watchnight service.

I heard that I was on the run, but who am I running from? I am a law-abiding citizen. I also heard that I was arrested, how can someone who has been arrested be standing here freely in front of you? Then perhaps they arrested my ghost. What kind of world are we living in now?” Questioning the source of these claims, he highlighted.

“The world is now full of deception and lies. Everyone, including social media and news websites, is spreading falsehoods. I traveled and just returned to the country as expected. I was tipped off about claims that I squandered money meant for the National Cathedral project and that I was arrested while trying to flee the country. These claims are all lies. I have done nothing wrong, no one can arrest me. It doesn’t matter who you are,”he added.

He expressed disappointment over the spread of misinformation, particularly on social and traditional media. He explained that he was invited for questioning but was never arrested.

Rev. KusiBoateng reassured his congregation that he remains focused and will not be distracted by baseless allegations. He encouraged his followers to disregard false reports, stating that divine grace will guide him through any challenges.

“I won’t do anything that will bring shame to my congregation. I won’t let this distract me. We are in a better year, grace has been activated, and no matter what the devil does, the Lord will see us through,” he declared.

Background

The controversy surrounding Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng began in 2023 when North Tongu MP, now Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, alleged that the clergyman possessed multiple identities. According to Ablakwa, he operated under the name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi and held multiple passports. He also claimed that JNS Talent Centre Ltd, a company owned by Rev. Kusi Boateng under this identity, received GH¢2.6 million from the National Cathedral project. Despite these allegations, the clergyman remains an Executive Council Member and Director of the National Cathedral Board.

In January 2023, Ablakwa petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate him for conflict of interest and other alleged criminal dealings. However, CHRAJ’s report indicated that he holds only one passport under the name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi and has never been issued one as Kusi Boateng.

Although CHRAJ cleared him of possessing multiple identities, it recommended further investigation and possible prosecution of the National Cathedral Board of Trustees. It also advised the Auditor General to conduct a forensic audit of the entire project. Additionally, CHRAJ found that the contract with Ribade Company Ltd. violated the Public Procurement Act, raising corruption concerns and warranting its cancellation.

While specific charges against Rev. Kusi Boateng remain unclear, sources suggest that the ongoing investigation focuses on his alleged dual identity and financial dealings related to the National Cathedral project.
