The Ghana Education Service (GES) has declared today, Friday, March 7th, 2025, a holiday for all schoolchildren across the country.
This decision aims to give students a well-deserved break after their intense preparations for Ghana’s 68th Independence Day celebrations.
In an official statement issued on March 6th, 2025, the GES confirmed that schools would resume normal activities on Monday, March 10, 2025. The service urged parents and guardians to take note of the schedule adjustment and make necessary arrangements for their children.
The GES acknowledged that the short break might cause some inconvenience but emphasized that it is necessary to ensure students get adequate rest after the demanding period leading up to the national celebrations.
Ghana marked its 68th Independence Anniversary on Thursday, March 6, 2025, commemorating its liberation from British colonial rule in 1957.
This year’s theme, “Reflect, Review, Reset,” encourages citizens to assess the country’s progress, examine its present situation, and strategize for a better future.
Unlike previous years, the celebrations are expected to be modest due to economic challenges. Despite the scaled-down nature of the events, the government remains committed to ensuring that the significance of the day is not lost.
The GES’s decision to grant a holiday aligns with efforts to support students’ well-being following their participation in various Independence Day activities.
