Ntim Smells Victory

A leading contender for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman position, Stephen Ayensu Ntim, has expressed optimism he would emerge victorious especially when his inspiration is to serve the grass-root rather than for self-gain.

“I would be running because of the grassroots members and nothing more…they are calling on me, it is my time to lead the party as our National Chairman. There comes a time when everyone knows it is the right time for something to be done and this is Ntim’s time to become National Chairman after serving the party in various capacities and making an attempt for three times.

“Each time I did not win, I always said it was the NPP that won and we united to continue to serve the NPP. I can tell you that the feedback I get anytime I move round to see our members is very encouraging. The people know me. I did not start recently and my track records are there to show”, Mr. Ntim noted.

Speaking to Nhyira FM in Kumasi, Mr. Ntim continued: “The delegates have worked with me a number of times as First National Vice Chairman of the party and in many capacities including Regional Chairman and what have you; they know what I have done and what I can do for the party and for them.

“After all the previous defeats, I did not leave the party but I rather accepted party positions and worked to help take our party to its current level.

“The delegates are aware of my love and contributions to the party and so they would vote for me to lead our party to retain political power in 2020. So far, all the places that I have visited, the party delegates have welcomed me with open arms and with the assurance that it is my time to lead the NPP”.

Past Defeats

Stephen Ntim has had three unsuccessful attempts at grabbing the National Chairman slot but has expressed strong faith he would be lucky on his fourth attempt this June.

He has been very widely tipped as a lead candidate. But in politics and matters of elections, public good will and verbal support is never a guarantee for victory.

It is a fact that Ntim has paid his dues and gone through the mill, and waited in the queue, serving the NPP diligently than any of the names put out as potential contenders. He was once the NPP Regional Chairman for Brong Ahafo and later became a National Vice Chairman for the party.

He has financed the party for decades both in opposition and in power and barely has made any significant enemies for himself.

Ntim Smells Victory

Mr. Ntim said he has put the three previous setbacks behind him and he is now well focused and poised to win the impending party polls with ease.

According to him, he has continually contributed his quota to the development of

Speaking to host, Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin during a telephone interview on Saturday’s edition of ‘Kroyimusem’ morning show, Stephen Ntim denied a claim that he had become passive in internal party activities.

“This is not true. I am doing a lot behind scenes. That is my way of politicking…My humble appeal to NPP delegates in Ashanti Region and erstwhile is that they should not forget their brother Stephen Ntim”, he appealed.

The poll is slated for this June and Ntim other names that have either expressed interest or reported to have expressed an interest in the National Chairman Slot include Sammy Crabbe, the embattled Second National Vice-Chairman of the party and Freddie Blay, the incumbent acting National Chairman.

Another interesting name making the rounds is Alhaji Abubakari Abdul Rahman affectionately called Alhaji Short, the current Upper West Regional Chairman of NPP.
