Police gurus storm manhyia

THE POLICE Headquarters in Accra was virtually moved to the Manhyia Palace, in Kumasi, the seat of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on Sunday.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare led the crème-de-la-crème in the Ghana Police Service to the palace to pay home to the Asantehene.

The occasion was the last Akwasidae of the year 2021 also dubbed as Akwasidae Kesee, which was held at the Dwabirem in the Manhyia Palace on Sunday afternoon.

The IGPs delegation included the famous Commissioner of Police (COP) Kofi Boakye, who is a former Ashanti Regional Police Commander, and other top officers.

Dr. Dampare’s delegation presented assortment of foreign and traditional drinks to the Asantehene and Asanteman to mark the Akwasidae to make it grand and successful.

Aside the IGP ‘s delegation, the Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia and his wife, Samira Bawumia, also led a powerful delegation to the important programme.

The vice president’s delegation also included the Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Akosua Frema Osei Opare, ministers of state, MMDCEs and other top dignitaries.

The representatives of the various political parties in the country were also present at the Manhyia palace in large numbers to show their respect to the Asantehene.

Representing the NPP was Lawyer Henry Nana Boakye aka ‘Nana B’, the NPP National Youth Organizer and other national executives of the ruling political party in Accra.

Former Kumasi Mayor during the NDC regime, Kojo Bonsu and NDC Ashanti Regional Chairman Nana Akwasi represented the NDC. The event was used to showcase rich culture of Asantes.
