PRISON BREAK: Armed Manhunt for Escaped Prisoner

The Ghana Prisons Service has declared 29-year-old inmate Peter Kyeremeh wanted following his escape from lawful custody.

An official manhunt is currently underway, as prison officers and law enforcement personnel work around the clock to track down the fugitive and safely return him to detention.

According to a wanted notice published on the official Facebook page of the Ghana Prisons Service on August 15, 2026, Kyeremeh was serving a five-year prison sentence with hard labour. His conviction stemmed from charges of unlawful entry and stealing. Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact details surrounding the location or circumstances of his escape.

To assist the public in identifying the fugitive, prison authorities have provided a physical description. Kyeremeh is described as a 29-year-old male of slim build with a fair complexion.

Public Appeal and Safety Warning

The Ghana Prisons Service is urgently appealing to members of the general public for any information that could lead to Kyeremeh’s recapture. Officers emphasize that public cooperation is vital to ensuring community safety and apprehending the escaped convict quickly.

However, security officials have issued a strong warning to the public that citizens must not attempt to approach, confront, or apprehend Kyeremeh on their own under any circumstances. Because he is a convicted offender, individuals who spot him are strongly advised to maintain a safe distance and report the sighting immediately to the proper authorities.

Members of the public can report sightings or leads by visiting the nearest police station or prison establishment. Alternatively, information can be provided directly to the Ghana Prisons Service by calling their dedicated line at 0506232978.

Authorities assure the public that all information received will be handled swiftly to ensure the convict is returned to custody.
