We’re Ready to Fight for Ghana – Fatawu Issahaku

Leicester City forward Fatawu Issahaku has assured Ghanaians that the Black Stars are fully prepared to give their all in the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana endured a disappointing 2023, failing to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time since 2004. The team finished bottom of their qualifying group without a single win, leaving fans frustrated and skeptical about their future prospects.

However, the Black Stars have shown improvement in 2024, winning both of their World Cup qualifying matches. Currently tied with Comoros on nine points in Group I, Ghana will face Chad on March 21 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Last year’s uninspiring performances have led to dwindling attendance at games, with many Ghanaians uncertain about the team’s chances of securing a spot at the 2026 World Cup. Despite this, Fatawu, who is sidelined with a long-term injury after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in November 2024, has called on fans to rally behind the team.

“We still need your support, and we are ready to fight for the nation as always. We hope to see you all in the stadium,” he said via the Ghana Football Association.

Following their match against Chad, Ghana will travel to Morocco, aiming to strengthen their bid for a fifth World Cup appearance.
