Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has reportedly decided to leave the club following tensions with teammates Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham.
The 24-year-old Brazilian refused to play in Sunday’s El Clasico against Barcelona, a match Madrid lost 4-3, putting them seven points behind in the LaLiga title race with only three games left.
Reports from Spain suggest that Rodrygo feels sidelined after the arrivals of Mbappe and Bellingham, who have taken centre stage at the club. Rodrygo had hoped to become one of Madrid’s main stars alongside fellow Brazilian Vinicius Jr. Instead, he now feels pushed aside.
Mbappe has enjoyed a standout season, scoring 38 goals, while Bellingham has also impressed since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2023. Their presence has not only drawn media attention but also led to tactical changes by manager Carlo Ancelotti.
To accommodate Mbappe, Ancelotti pushed Rodrygo to the wing and adjusted Bellingham into midfield. Over time, the preferred attacking trio became Vinicius Jr, Mbappe, and Bellingham, leaving Rodrygo out of key fixtures.
With Ancelotti set to leave Real Madrid to coach Brazil, Xabi Alonso is expected to take over next season. However, it appears Rodrygo has already made up his mind to move on. According to Marca, he is “very angry” and has stayed at home since refusing to play in El Clasico.
Rodrygo joined Real Madrid from Santos in 2019 and has played over 250 matches, winning two Champions League titles and three LaLiga trophies. Despite his success, his current situation has reportedly made him unhappy and eager to find a fresh start elsewhere.
