From Sharing Room with Corpses, Emmanuel Adjei Opens ‘Born to Prophesy’

Yesterday, Sunday, August 2, 2026, Prophet Emmanuel Adjei, Founder and General Overseer of Prayer Palace International, a thriving charismatic church in Accra, kick-started the highly anticipated week-long Christian conference, “Born to Prophesy (BTP) – Home Coming Edition,” which would run to August 9, 2026. He recounted that he was raised in a “very funny – let’s say humble background” where “food was difficult to come by – it was very tough”.

He explained that his single mother could only afford to rent a room in a house where dead bodies were laid for funeral wake keeping, “Anytime there was a funeral, we had to check out, and return after the ceremony,” he recalled, adding that he would sometimes share a room with a corpse in a separate corner while his mother slept outside. When his mother had to travel to Cote d’Ivoire for work, he was left to fend for himself. “It was so tough…I came to realise, then, my only hope was in God,” he stated.

The prophet elaborated on how prayer became his lifeline during these trying times. “The only thing I could survive on while growing up was prayer hence, I never took my prayer life for a joke,” he said.

Prophet Adjei described how he would walk to his destinations due to a lack of transport fare, always praying with his lips moving, determined to hear from God. He noted that he survived on hope, prayer, and honesty, refusing to confess anything negative despite his circumstances.
