SP haunts Adu Boahen over $200,000 ‘appearance fee’

The Special Prosecutor, Kisi Agyabeng, has confirmed that his Office has  commenced investigations into the suspected corrupt actions of Mr Charles Adu Boahen, a former Minister of State at the Finance Ministry.

Charles Adu Boahen was sacked from office last Monday by President Akufo-Addo after the minister was caught in an undercover  investigative documentary  by Anas Aremeyaw Anas involved in what is suspected to be corruption and corruption related activities.

The said undercover works captured a man believed to be Charles Adu Boahen in a meeting  in Dubai with undercover journalists disguised as Arabian businessmen  and he demanded from them an amount of $200,000 which he said would be gives as “appearance fees” to Vice President Bawumia so the businessmen could open a ban in Ghana.

Charles Adu Boahen is alleged to have also asked for himself, 20 percent of the investment amount from the supposed Arabian business mogul who had said they were pumping some $500 million as capital into the said bank they had planned to open in Ghana.

President Akufo-Addo, in his November 14 letter to dismiss Charles Adu Boahen said the case be referred to the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng in a statement he signed and issued on Tuesday afternoon, November 15, 2022 said : “The Office of the Special Prosecutor has promptly commenced investigations into the action of Mr Charles Adu Boahen and any other implicated persons contained in the investigative exposé, ”Galamsey Economy’.”
