A MAN, identified as Akon, and suspected to be a member of the notorious Hawks, is currently battling for his life in the hospital after he was stabbed multiple times by unknown attackers.
The victim was in his house at Abirem-Kenyasi when some goons attacked him with sharp knives and other objects.
Without provocation, the attackers stabbed Akon in his stomach, which left him bleeding profusely.
Akon is suspected to be a member of the Hawks, a vigilante group affiliated to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in Kumasi.
Unconfirmed reports say the victim had a hand in the shooting to death of Wasiu, a member of the NDC Taskforce in Kumasi a couple of months ago. This suggests that the Abirem-Kenyase attack could be a retaliatory action.
There were initial reports that Akon was nowhere to be found after his attackers had left him in a pool of blood, but reports from the police say he had been sent to the hospital for treatment by the police.
According to the police, Akon is under arrest and would assist investigations regarding Wasiu’s murder when he recovers.
The arrest now brings to four, the number of people arrested by the police, out of the 12 suspects declared wanted over Wasiu’s murder.
