Stolen Car Dumped at Flagstaff House…Suspect On The Run

A SUSPECTED car thief, in possession of a state car, has surprisingly dumped the vehicle right behind the Flagstaff House in Accra, the seat of government and fled.

The salon car, which has been identified to be part of the pool of vehicles at the presidency, was found parked with the ignition key also left in the car.

It is suspected that the unknown person bought the car illegally so he decided to dispose it off to avert being arrested by the security agencies.

The emergence of the car has come at a time that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration has started operation to retrieve all stolen state cars.

Odeneho Nana Oppong, in charge of Transport and Logistics at the presidency, made this known during a chat with King Edward of Hello FM in Kumasi.

According to him, they have realized that out of the 641 cars that the NDC administration claimed to have left behind, only 179 could be found.

Nana Oppong said the suspicion is that some people were illegally in possession of cares meant for the presidency, hence their resolve to retrieve all the vehicles.

He said records show that some of the vehicles were sold to NDC party activists, security personnel and other people, at a meager fee of GHC 5,000.

Nana Oppong said his team was about to hit the streets to arrest all the cars when suddenly they saw a saloon state car dumped behind the Flagstaff House.

He said efforts to identify the person, who dumped the car so that the law could deal with him/her has so far proved futile.

Nana Oppong stated that all efforts would be done to help identify the stolen state cars in the coming weeks and months.
