Two Achimota Old Students Killed

The Old Achimotan Association (OAA24) is mourning the tragic loss of two of its members, Davida Asante Boateng and Lilian Akorli, who were victims of a hit-and-run accident on March 7^th, 2025.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce to the entire OAA ’24 and the general OAA community the tragic loss of two of our beloved members, Davida Asante Boateng and Lilian Akorli,both members of Stopford House who passed away after a tragic accident on March 7, 2025”, the OAA24 stated in an official release.

The heartbreaking incident occurred on the Achimota Highway as the two young women were returning to the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), after attending the Annual Bonfire Celebration at Achimota School, their alma mater. While crossing the highway at around 11:30 PM, they were struck by a black Toyota Corolla. Shockingly, the driver failed to stop, leaving them critically injured at the scene.

Good Samaritans rushed the two to the hospital at approximately 12:02 AM. Despite the medical team’s best efforts, Davida succumbed to her injuries around 4:00 AM on March 8. Lilian fought bravely for her life but tragically passed away later that same morning.

The news has sent shockwaves through the OAA community, especially among the members of Stopford House, where both young women were well-loved.

OAA24 President BrainardApraku and General Secretary Wendy NaakiEtteh expressed their deepest condolences to the grieving families.

“We are devastated by this tragic loss. Davida and Lilian were cherished members of our community, and their absence will be deeply felt. We stand in solidarity with their families and will do all we can to support them through this difficult time,” the statement read.

The association has pledged to honor their memory and ensure their legacy lives on. They have also urged authorities to investigate the incident and bring the driver responsible to justice.

As the community comes to terms with this painful loss, tributes continue to pour in for Davida and Lilian. Friends and loved ones remember them as vibrant, kind-hearted, and full of promise.
