Ukraine has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Ghana for its ongoing support at the international level, particularly for backing United Nations resolutions condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The appreciation was shared during a phone call between Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, and Prosper Douglas Kweku Bani, Ghana’s National Security Advisor.
The conversation also included Ihor Brusylo, Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office.
The news was obtained from the details of their discussion, which were published on Ukraine’s official website on April 9th, 2025.
Yermak thanked Ghana for its strong stance, saying, “We aim to strengthen cooperation between Ukraine and Ghana. Ghana is one of Ukraine’s most important and promising partners in West Africa. I believe that the recent opening of the Ukrainian Embassy in Ghana will help enhance our collaboration.”
He also reiterated Ukraine’s commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace, despite Russia’s actions to prolong the conflict. Yermak pointed to a recent Russian missile strike on Kryvyi Rih, which killed 20 people, including nine children, as a reminder of Russia’s disregard for civilian lives.
In addition to discussing security and humanitarian concerns, Yermak and Bani talked about boosting bilateral relations in areas like agriculture, food security, digital transformation, transport, and education.
Yermak highlighted Ukraine’s efforts to stabilize global food supply chains through the “Grain from Ukraine” initiative, which supports countries facing food insecurity due to the war.
This conversation marks a significant step in strengthening ties between the two countries, with both sides committed to furthering cooperation in various sectors.
