Yaa Naa extols Napo over Free SHS

THE KING of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abubakari Mahama, has praised Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’ for spearheading the successful implementation of the free Senior High School (SHS) policy, the flagship programme of the Nana Akufo-Addo led-Government.

Traditional leader explained that the free SHS policy is one of the good things to happen to the country. He said the novel social intervention programme continues to make positive impractical in the lives of Ghanaians.

Yaa Naa commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his vision and insight to appoint a hard working and visionary leader like Napo to head the Education Ministry during the implementation of the policy.

The Dagbon traditional leader stated expressed the hope that Napo would replicate his tremendous work at the Education Ministry to his new ministry, the Energy Ministry to benefit the country.

“Honourable, I wish to begin by extending my sincere congratulations to you Honourable Matthew Opoku Prempeh for your appointment as the Energy Minister.

“Your appointment was indeed occasioned as a result of the excellent leadership you exhibited in your previous positions in government and other good works for mother Ghana.

“Honourable Minister, your legacies at the Ministry of Education particularly the roll out of the famous free SHS policy are impacting positively on the children of Ghana.

“I wish to use this opportunity to thank the president of the Republic, His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the confidence he reposes on you through the appointment.

“Honourable Matthew Opoku Prempeh, I am very confident that with your solid team at the Ministry, you would deliver an excellent job again in the Energy Ministry”, the respected traditional leader said.

The occasion was when Napo paid a courtesy call on the Yaa Naa ahead of the inauguration a revenue protection task force for the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo).

The purpose of the courtesy call was first to inform Yaa Naa of Napo’s visit to Dagbon and its purpose, and further to seek his blessings and support for the task force.

Significantly, the Special Revenue Protection Task Force which Napo inaugurated for NEDCo shall have a special mandate to among others, check all forms of revenue leakages.

Continuing, the Yaa Naa commended the government, in particular Napo, for his tireless efforts and determination to provide affordable electricity to Ghanaians, urging Napo to continue with his splendid works so far.

“I am happy to inform you that the good leadership you exhibit at your ministry has sown a seed of hope and expectations of the people in government.

“Through your efforts, the Dagbon Kingdom has experienced for the first time among other things the building of eight solar power plants by the Ghana’s Bui Power Authority with a capacity of 259 MWp in Yendi and other parts of the northern regions.

“Honourable, the building of the solar plants will consolidate the development of renewable energy in Ghana”, the Yaa Naa declared and assured of his support for Napo and his ministry to succeed.

On his part, Napo, who was beaming with smiles, lauded the Yaa Naa for his positive words of encouragement and support, assuring that his desire to do his best for mother Ghana would be sustained for years to come.
