Amissah-Arthur Was In the Wrong Party ― John Boadu

General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. John Boadu without mincing words has stated that the late former Vice President, Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, was too virtuous to be part of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, the deceased was a very restrained personality in the Ghanaian political terrane making him admired by many― including politicians from the other political divide.

“He was able to hold on to himself without being pushed by party hawks and people that believe that you must answer to everything and respond in like manner,” Mr. Boadu said.

He continued: “Only that we believe he was in the wrong party. So, even with that character, it was a misnomer in their party. But all said and done, it is a virtue we can hold on to.”

The NPP General Secretary was addressing the media after he took his turn together with some NPP big wigs to file past the mortal remains of the former Vice President, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), yesterday.

The NPP official stated afterwards that the good traits exhibited by the late Vice President, were worth emulating by all citizenry.

The Senior Minister, Mr. Yaw Osafo-Marfo however led government’s delegation to pay their last respects to the late former Vice President.

Joining him to observe this saddening event were some ministers of state.

They include; the Attorney General, Madam Gloria Akuffo; Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Djaba; Trade Minister, Alan Kyeremanten; Minister of Transport, Kweku Ofori Asiamah and Local Government Minister, Hajia Alima Mahama.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief of Staff, Samuel Abu Jinapor has indicated that the President, Nana Akufo-Addo would be present today, to participate fully in the event.

“We are only glad that the country is United in grieve and mourning. Hopefully we will continue with the process of giving him a befitting burial. Maybe government may come up with some arrangements to immortalise him,” Mr. Jinapour said.
