Bullgod Defends Kofi Boat Amid Fraud Case

Popular Ghanaian artiste manager and entertainment pundit, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bullgod, has spoken out about the recent arrest of businessman Kofi Boat, who is facing extradition to the United States over an alleged $100 million fraud scheme.

Speaking on United Showbiz on Saturday June 21, 2025, Bullgod, whose real name is Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, said he was disappointed that some Ghanaians are celebrating the arrest of Kofi Boat and two others. He shared that he has a close friendship with Kofi Boat and was at the court to support him during his hearing.

“My concern is about the substance of the case… The Kofi Boat I know isn’t like that. I can only say that from where I sit. Those jubilating and those disappointed over the case should give themselves time because time will vindicate those innocent and guilty,” Bullgod said

Kofi Boat, whose full name is Isaac Kofi Oduro Boateng, was arrested following an Interpol-FBI operation. He appeared before a District Court in Accra on June 20, 2025. Bullgod revealed that the extradition hearing has been adjourned to July 1, 2025. He praised Kofi Boat’s legal team, saying, “The lawyers of Kofi Boat were amazing because their arguments were solid.”

In a video shared on social media, Bullgod also questioned why some Ghanaians seemed happy about the arrest.

“I don’t know why we are happy when people are in some kind of trouble. It tells you how sad we are as a people in this country. I pray for strength for Kofi Boat and his family,” he said.

The U.S. authorities allege that Kofi Boat is the leader of a group that made over $100 million through romance scams and business email compromises (BECs) dating back to 2016. The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, signed the arrest warrant on March 18, 2025.

Two other individuals, Inusah Ahmed and Derrick Van Yeboah, have also been arrested, while a fourth suspect, Patrick Kwame Asare, is currently on the run. The extradition request was made by the U.S. Embassy in Accra after a court in the Southern District of New York issued an indictment.

Despite the seriousness of the charges, Bullgod believes in due process and is hopeful that the truth will be revealed in time.
