Coach Logarusic Eyes Premier League Return for Nations FC

New Nations FC head coach Zdravko Logarusic has outlined his plans for the club, saying his main target is to help the team return to the Ghana Premier League and compete strongly in African football.

Speaking in his first official interview since taking charge, the experienced coach described Nations FC as a unique football project. He said the club’s private ownership makes it different from many other clubs across Africa.

“It’s not easy in Africa to have a private club that doesn’t operate like a social society. It’s a pioneer project, especially in football, and not many clubs have done it. Let’s be part of history,” he said.

Logarusic explained that before deciding how his team will play, he wants to closely assess his players. According to him, every successful team starts by understanding the strengths and abilities of the players available.

Using a simple baking example, he said building a football team is like making a cake.

“First, we have to make proper observations to see what kind of ingredients we have to make the cake. Then we’ll decide what kind of cake we’re going to make,” he added.

The former Ghana coach also stressed the need for professionalism among his players. He urged them to treat football as a serious career that can provide for their families.

“If they must put food on the table for their families, then they have to act professionally. Our job as coaches is to judge fairly, help them improve and produce results,” he stressed.

Logarusic said his team will give everything in every match as they chase positive results. However, he also believes in respecting opponents whenever they perform better.

“We have to give everything after every game. We are here for results. If someone is better than us, we’ll shake their hands and focus on the next game.”

The coach revealed that the club’s immediate goal is to secure promotion back to the Ghana Premier League. Beyond that, he wants Nations FC to become one of Ghana’s strongest representatives in African club competitions.

He expressed disappointment over the recent performances of Ghanaian clubs in CAF competitions, noting that many have failed to reach the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

“For a long time, Ghanaian clubs haven’t even reached the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup. Ghana doesn’t deserve that. Let’s do it with a club that deserves to be in the Premier League.”

Logarusic also praised the quality of football talent in Ghana, describing the country as a nation with enormous potential waiting to be unlocked.

“Talent is everywhere in Ghana. Ghana is a sleeping giant. We just have to find a way to wake it up. Let’s work together, support each other and build something special,” he stated.

The coach admitted that success will not come overnight but said he is confident the club can achieve its ambitions. He believes that with careful planning, hard work, experienced leadership and strong support from the club’s management, Nations FC can return to the Premier League and make Ghana proud on the continental stage.
