Gov’t Delays NaBCo Start

Applicants Express Worry

Government has announced yet another postponement of the start of the Nations Builders Corp (NaBCo) programme.

The initiative which should have kickstart on October 15, after being shifted from October 1, 2018, may have to begin in November, the coordinator for the programme, Dr. Ibrahim Anyars has said.

The delay according to him, follows concerns that the 100,000 recruits have not yet been assigned to their duty post.

“Currently what we are doing is placing these applicants within the institutions with the collaboration of the module implementation partners. We have given an indicative date for every module partner to start receiving the NaBCo applicants from November 1,” Dr. Anyars said on Joy FM’s news analysis programme Newsfile, on Saturday.

But some applicants of the programme seem to be disturbed about the outcome as this is not the first time the start date has been shifted.

According to a NaBCo recruit, Esther Lamptey who has been employed under the Revenue Ghana module, she does not know where she would be working yet.

“We are expecting that when you are placed, the module will give you specific module training…as at now we have not been posted and we don’t know which offices we are going to work,” she told Joy FM.

She continued: “They should let us be aware of when exactly we are starting work so that we can prepare ourselves for that.”

Esther further revealed that no proper training has been offered them prior to the kickstart.

“As of now, if even we are fit to work, I am sure they will have to train us first before we know what we are going to do for our respective offices of posting,” she added.

President Nana Akufo-Addo on October 17, 2018, outdoored the beneficiaries of the NaBCo.

Beneficiaries have been placed under seven modules including Feed Ghana, Educate Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Heal Ghana, Enterprise Ghana, Digitise Ghana and Governance Ghana and would be paid a stipend of GH¢700, monthly.
