Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has been fined $50,000 for using inappropriate language and making an obscene gesture at a fan during a playoff game against the Los Angeles Lakers. The NBA’s President of League Operations, Byron Spruell, confirmed the fine on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
The incident took place in Game 1 of the first-round series, where the Timberwolves defeated the Lakers 117-95 in Los Angeles. In the third quarter, Edwards stepped in to defend teammate Rudy Gobert, who was being heckled by a fan near the sideline.
In a circulated video on X posted by NBA Memes on April 23rd, 2025, Edwards was seen telling the fan how much money Gobert earns before ending the exchange with a rude gesture and offensive comment.
He was caught on camera pointing at his manhood and using vulgar language saying, “my manhood is bigger than yours”.
Despite the off-court drama, Edwards continued to impress on the court. In Game 2, he played 40 minutes, scored 25 points, and grabbed six rebounds. However, the Timberwolves lost the match 85-94 to the Lakers.
One of the biggest moments of the night came when Edwards drove to the basket and delivered a powerful two-handed dunk over Lakers center Jaxson Hayes, thrilling the crowd.
With the series now tied at 1-1, all eyes are on Game 3, which will be played in Minnesota on Saturday, April 26 at 1:30 AM. Timberwolves fans are hoping Edwards can stay focused and lead the team to another win.
