NDC Shooting: Soldiers Guard Wasiu Body

ARMED MILITARY and police team were yesterday enrolled to provide security to the lifeless body of Abdul Wasiu, one person who died during the unfortunate shooting incident in the head office of the National Democratic Congress in the Ashanti Region.
The body which was preserved at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) morgue in Kumasi saw some zongo youth storming the venue to demand the release for burial. To avert a possible mayhem, armed police and soldiers were sent to the hospital to ensure law and order.
Wasou who was a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Taskforce, was killed on Monday following a multiple shot leading to his death by the Hawks, an known NDC vigilante group at an emergency meeting by leadership of the party.
Present in the meeting were NDC Regional Executives as well National Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia who run for their lives when the gunshots started.

Meanwhile, Former President John Dramani Mahama has described as criminal Monday’s afternoon shooting at the Ashanti Regional Headquarters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a post on his Facebook page sighted by he called on the police and related security agencies to immediately apprehend the perpetrators of the crime and subject them to the full rigours of the law.

His post reads “I have just been briefed about a shooting incident that occurred in front of the Ashanti Regional Office of the NDC leading to the death of one person and injury to another.

I strongly condemn this incident. It is clearly a criminal act, and I call on the police and relevant security agencies to investigate, immediately apprehend the culprits and subject them to the full rigours of the law”.
