NFA Boss Kafui Danku moves to revive Ghana’s film industry

The Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority, Kafui Danku-Pitcher, together with Deputy Executive Secretary Mr. James Gardiner and other NFA members, took a strategic step toward revitalizing Ghana’s film industry with a courtesy visit to legendary filmmaker Mr. Kwaw Ansah and other key players in the industry.

The meeting aimed to tap into Mr. Ansah’s vast knowledge to help shape the future of the film industry.

Posting on her Facebook wall on March 27th, 2025, Mrs. Pitcher, during the visit, shared that the NFA team had meaningful discussions with the legendary filmmaker, exploring both challenges and opportunities in the sector.

The conversation provided fresh insights on strengthening Ghana’s film industry and ensuring long-term success for filmmakers and industry professionals.

As part of the NFA’s broader efforts to engage industry stakeholders, Deputy Executive Secretary Mr. James Gardiner also met with Mr. Teddy Sabutey, President of the Facilitators’ Guild, along with other NFA staff.

Their discussions focused on the major issues facing the industry and possible solutions.

To support industry learning, Mr. Sabutey presented his book, Handbook for Film Production Management for Beginners and Practicing Production Managers, to the NFA, providing a valuable guide for aspiring filmmakers.

These visits mark an important step in the NFA’s mission to strengthen partnerships in the Ghanaian film industry. By collaborating with experienced industry leaders, the authority aims to implement practical strategies to grow the sector and create more opportunities for professionals.

In another exciting development, Madam Kafui Danku-Pitcher also welcomed a special invitation to the premiere of LAST STOP, a highly anticipated film set to premiere at Silverbird Cinemas in Accra this Friday March 28. Directed by Kwabena Gyansah, the movie promises a thrilling experience filled with crime, mystery, and political intrigue.

Movie lovers can catch the premiere at Silverbird Cinemas (Accra Mall &Westhills Mall) and Golden Eagle Cinemas in Kumasi on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 7 PM and 9 PM. Tickets are selling for GHC 150.
