Premier League: Manchester City 2:1 Newcastle United

Premier League champions Manchester City on Saturday, September 1, returned back to winning ways as they defeated vising Newcastle United 2-1 at the Etihad stadium.

But the victory only took them to third position on the Premier League standings with 10 points, and they are two points behind Chelsea and Liverpool.

Newcastle United wanted to pick at-least a point in this match after losing their last home game, but they met a more determined Manchester City side who drew their last encounter.

Englishman Raheem Sterling scored the first goal for Manchester City in the 8th minute as he benefited from a lovely pass by Benjamin Mendy.

The visitors restored parity in the 30th minute through DeAndre Yedlin who was wonderfully set up by Solomon Rondon.

Argentina international Sergio Aguero provided the assist that helped Kyle Walker to score the winning goal for Manchester City in the 52nd minute.

Earlier, thepublisheronline.com had reported how Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola is reportedly eyeing a £70 million summer move for Real Madrid and Spanish midfielder Isco.

After winning the Premier League title in his second season at the Etihad stadium, Pep Guardiola wants to bring in more legs to the club next year.
