Ghanaian social media user, Webkid, has been granted bail after being arrested over allegations of cyberbullying and making derogatory comments about the wife and family of dancehall artiste Stonebwoy on social media.
According to a video shared by JoyNews on June 22, 2026, his lawyer confirmed that Webkid has been released on bail set at GHC100,000 with two sureties.
The lawyer stated that his client has been left emotionally distressed following his time in custody, which lasted about 41 days.
He also explained that Webkid, who works as a businessman, has suffered major financial setbacks during his detention, as several of his clients have reportedly withdrawn their services.
“He is very traumatised because he has lost his clients. He is a businessman, and he has lost most of them. I am praying that his clients listening to us will return to him,” he said.
The lawyer further argued that the legal process surrounding the case was not fair and questioned the basis of the charges filed against his client.
“If you want to determine whether this is justifiable enough, ask yourself this: would they pursue the same charges if he had made the same comments in the print media? If they would not prosecute him for making the same comments in traditional media, then answer for yourself whether this is appropriate or not,” he said.
Court records indicate that Webkid was first remanded on May 11 and later remanded again on May 26 after prosecutors reportedly added new charges. The total charges against him increased from four to six as investigations continued.
Following his release on bail, Stonebwoy also addressed the situation during a live TikTok session, advising his supporters to avoid actions that could lead them into legal trouble.
“You guys stay safe, and stay free. Don’t go do anything that will make them bail you. If they bail you, they will still judge your matter. So stay safe and stay free,” he said.
Webkid was arrested over alleged defamatory remarks targeting Stonebwoy and his family. He is expected to appear in court as the legal process continues.
