Volta Economic Forum 2026 To Push Investment Execution

The Volta Region is set to deepen discussions on its economic potential and investment prospects as stakeholders converge in Ho for the Volta Economic Forum 2026.

The forum, scheduled for Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the G.M. Afeti Auditorium of the Ho Technical University, will focus on how the region can move beyond identifying economic opportunities to attracting and executing investments that can transform those opportunities into tangible development.

This year’s forum is being held under the theme, “From Opportunity Showcase to Investment Execution.”

The theme, according to Dr. Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, Volta Regional representative on the Council of State, reflects the need for a more practical approach to the region’s economic development.

He said the Volta Region had considerable economic opportunities which, if properly developed and supported with the right investments, could create jobs, expand businesses and improve the living conditions of residents.

Dr. Kwamigah-Atokple said the forum would provide an important platform for stakeholders to examine the opportunities available in the region and explore practical ways of attracting investors capable of unlocking their full potential.

He described the 2026 edition of the Volta Economic Forum as another important step in the ongoing conversation about the economic future of the region.

According to him, the focus should not end with showcasing what the Volta Region has to offer, but must extend to ensuring that identified opportunities translate into actual investments and projects.

The shift from opportunity promotion to investment execution is expected to bring greater attention to the practical conditions required to make the region attractive to investors.

These include infrastructure, access to finance, reliable utilities, skills development, market access and an enabling business environment capable of supporting both local and foreign investors.

The Volta Region has in recent years sought to position itself as an investment destination by highlighting its potential in areas including agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, energy and other productive sectors.

The forum is therefore expected to bring together key stakeholders from the public and private sectors, investors, business leaders, development partners and other actors to deliberate on ways of turning those opportunities into sustainable economic ventures.

Dr. Kwamigah-Atokple, who announced his intention to participate in the forum, said he looked forward to joining other stakeholders for the important engagement.

His participation is expected to add a public policy and development perspective to discussions on how the region can leverage its resources and strategic location to attract investment.

The Council of State representative has consistently stressed the importance of partnerships and coordinated efforts in advancing development in the Volta Region.

For many stakeholders, the success of the forum will ultimately be measured not by the number of opportunities showcased, but by the investments, jobs and businesses that emerge from the discussions.

The organisers and participants are consequently expected to use the platform to identify bankable opportunities, engage potential investors and explore practical measures to address barriers that have historically slowed investment in the region.

The September 23 forum is therefore expected to serve as more than a platform for presentations. It will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to move the conversation towards concrete commitments and investment decisions capable of driving sustainable economic growth in the Volta Region.

Dr. Kwamigah-Atokple said the region’s economic future required a collective effort, adding that the transition from showcasing opportunities to executing investments was critical if the Volta Region was to fully realise its development potential.
