Don’t Fight Stonebwoy Else Your Career Will End – Sally Mann to King Promise

Ghanaian entertainment analyst Sally Mann has warned Afrobeats star King Promise not to drift from his original style or engage in silent rivalry with Dancehall heavyweight Stonebwoy.

Mann warned that allowing people to inflate his ego and create a rift with a respected artiste like Stonebwoy could damage his career.

“All those hyping you, making you think you’re bigger than Stonebwoy and should disrespect him—be careful. If you try BHIM, your career could end. You don’t have the fanbase for that fight,” she cautioned.

Speaking on Adom TV, Mann praised King Promise’s early rise in the music industry, describing him as a “lover boy” who won hearts with his romantic songs. She expressed concern that the singer may be losing his identity and allowing outside voices to push him toward unnecessary conflict.

“You started as a lover boy for the girls, saying you liked sexy girls,” Mann said. “But now, your followers want you to switch and hit the streets. That’s not your lane.”

She also addressed what she described as subtle tensions between King Promise and Stonebwoy, urging the “Terminator” hitmaker to focus on his strengths rather than chasing battles he’s not ready for.

“Stop that silent fight you want to pick with Stonebwoy,” she said. “He is far ahead of you. Anytime Stonebwoy is on stage, he sets himself apart. King Promise, stay in your lane.”

Her remarks come shortly after King Promise’s big win as Artiste of the Year at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, sparking debates about his place in the industry.

Stonebwoy had earlier congratulated King Promise in a post on X, writing, “Congratulations @IamKingPromise on your win and your debut entry into the league of AOTY winners. You’re welcome.”

But in a later interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz with DJ Slim and Doreen Avio, King Promise said he hadn’t seen the message himself and didn’t see it as a big deal.

“I’ve been told of it… I haven’t been on Twitter today. I don’t think it’s a big deal… I don’t really think it’s anything to speak about,” he said.

Aside from winning Artiste of the Year, King Promise also took home Afropop Song of the Year, Best Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste, and Album of the Year.
