The Agona Nkwanta District Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Kudjo Ntow, for the alleged rape and murder of his wife’s 17-year-old niece, Olivia Kwofie, at Agona Nkwanta in the Western Region.
According to the police report, which was released on June 4th, 2026, the suspect, Kudjo, who is described as an ex-convict, committed the act on 01 June 2026 before fleeing and going into hiding.
Police reports state that on 01 June 2026, suspect Kudjo Ntow “sealed the mouth of the deceased with super glue, forcibly raped and murdered her and went into hiding after committing the act.”
Preliminary investigations indicate that at about 3:30 a.m. in the morning on 01 June 2026, one Samuel Kingsford Kwofie was on his way to his rubber plantation when he heard someone shouting for help around the School B area, close to the Fire Service Station at Agona Nkwanta. Alarmed by the cries, he moved toward the direction of the sound and discovered a distressing scene.
He foundthe now deceased, Olivia Kwofie, aged 17, sitting naked on the ground with both hands and legs tied with a rope. He quickly untied her and, in an attempt to get her to safety, escorted her towards the police station.
However, while they were on their way, the suspect reportedly emerged and attacked them from behind. Police say the suspect struck the victim with a cement block and fled immediately after the attack.
Upon receiving the report, police rushed to the scene and found the victim lying in a pool of blood with multiple cuts on her face. She was immediately conveyed to the Agona Nkwanta Polyclinic for treatment but was later pronounced dead. The incident has left residents deeply shaken, with many struggling to understand the brutality of the attack on a teenager.
Following the crime, police intelligence units intensified efforts to locate the suspect. On 02 June 2026, the Regional Police Intelligence team, together with officers from Agona Nkwanta, arrested Kudjo Ntow at his hideout in Nsuaem after a coordinated operation.
The suspect was subsequently processed, and on 03 June 2026, he was put before the Appollo Circuit Court in Takoradi and remanded into prison custody. He is expected to reappear on 17 June 2026 as investigations continue.
