NDC Task Force storm party office in search of jobs

A group of National Democratic Congress (NDC) taskforce members in the Ashanti Region gathered at the party’s regional office in Kumasi on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, demanding job placements as promised by the party’s leadership for their efforts in securing victory in the 2024 general elections.

Led by their coordinator, the disgruntled taskforce members insisted that the party had neglected them. In a video shared on X, the taskforce coordinator expressed their frustration, emphasizing that they will not back down until their demands are met.

“President Mahama pleaded to us that we, the Ashanti Region taskforce members, should not rest until he was declared president. We obeyed, mobilized people, and ensured no one cheated the NDC. With the support of soldiers, we secured the election process.

Unfortunately, some people who played no role in this hard work are now taking the credit. Those of us who risked our lives for the NDC have not been acknowledged or appreciated for our efforts. We were promised that if we worked hard for the party, we would be supported,”he stated.

The taskforce members claim they played a key role in mobilizing support across all 47 constituencies in the Ashanti Region, using their own resources to help the NDC secure votes. They alleged that some party leaders, including National Youth Organizer George Opare Addo and former Ashanti Regional Minister Samuel Sarpong, assured them that their hard work would be rewarded with job placements if the NDC won the elections.

They also revealed that they met with security expert James Agyei, who reportedly promised them positions in the National Security sector. However, nearly four months into the new administration, they claim they have not been given any opportunities.

“Our brother, James Agyeifrom Gbevlo-Lartey’ office, operations, who led us alongside his father, assured us that if the party won power, we would be given jobs in the security sector, knowing well that many of the youth here are interested in security. However, it has been almost three months since the NDC resumed power, yet no one has paid attention to us.

“If this continues, 2028 is just around the corner, how can we call others to help us secure victory again if the party doesn’t fulfill their promise,” he lamented.

The group is now appealing directly to President John Dramani Mahama to intervene, warning that they will not sit idly by for the next four years without receiving what was promised to them.

As tensions rise within the party, the NDC leadership is yet to respond to the demands of the taskforce members.
