O2 Arena Is Too Small for Shatta Wale – A-Plus

Gomoa Central MP and supporter of Shatta Wale, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, has said the dancehall artiste is targeting a concert at Wembley Stadium because London’s O2 Arena is too small to accommodate his fans.

Speaking on United Showbiz, A-Plus explained that Shatta Wale and the SM Movement have not held a concert at the O2 Arena because of concerns about the venue’s capacity.

“As for us, the 4Lyfe and SM Movement family, the reason we can’t hold a concert at the 02 is because that place is too small for us. If Shatta plays a concert at such a space, people might get hurt or even die because the crowd is too much,” he said.

According to A-Plus, the group is instead looking at Wembley Stadium, which can accommodate about 80,000 people, or the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for a future concert.

“We are trying to see if they would give us Vembley. We would fill up Wembley Stadium, which has a capacity of about 80,000. That is where we want to play, or maybe Tottenham Stadium,” he added.

A-Plus said a major concert of that scale would benefit Ghana’s tourism and creative arts industries by attracting international attention and creating opportunities for local businesses.

He also encouraged other Ghanaian musicians to aim for major international venues and follow in the footsteps of artistes who have successfully performed on global stages.

A-Plus congratulated dancehall artiste Stonebwoy on his achievements and urged other musicians to work towards similar milestones.

He, however, stressed that adequate support and sponsorship would be important for Ghanaian artistes planning to organise major concerts outside Ghana.

“We would also congratulate Stonebwoy and urge all artistes to also try and do it. As we are saying all of this, support and sponsorship are also very important,” he stated.

The comments come amid growing interest among Ghanaian musicians in staging major concerts at international venues as they seek to expand their global audiences and promote Ghana’s creative industry.
