McBrown Celebrates 49th Birthday With ‘Ama’ Movie Premiere

Ghanaian actress Nana Ama McBrown celebrated her 49th birthday in grand style with the premiere of her latest movie, Ama, at the UPSA Auditorium in Accra.

The premiere attracted hundreds of fans, who filled the auditorium across three separate screenings held at 2:00 pm, 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm. The event brought together movie lovers, celebrities and industry personalities who came to support the actress and watch her latest production.

The celebration went beyond the movie, as patrons were treated to performances from some of Ghana’s popular musicians.

Ghanaian singer KiDi entertained the audience with some of his hit songs, while Kuami Eugene, Wendy Shay, Lord Paper, Lasmid and other musicians also performed. Their performances turned the premiere into a lively celebration of both film and music.

Among the personalities who attended the event were Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Dzifa Gomashie, comedian Jeffrey Nortey, comedian General Nntatia, brand influencer and content creator Quecy Official, and Ghanaian-Nigerian actor Nana Yaw Addae.

Several TikTok content creators and influencers also attended the premiere in large numbers to support McBrown.

Unlike many Ghanaian movies that rely mainly on established actors, Ama introduces several young talents to the industry. McBrown said the project is part of her efforts to help revive Ghana’s film industry by creating opportunities for young people interested in acting and filmmaking.

One of the new talents introduced through the project is Whoisaclaw, who wrote and directed the movie.

The film also features several TikTok content creators who made their acting debut alongside McBrown and actor-comedian Aka Ebenezer.

McBrown said supporting young creatives is important to rebuilding Ghana’s film industry and creating a new generation of actors and filmmakers.

The movie also focuses on important social issues, particularly the need for education for the girl child. It condemns child and early marriage and encourages parents to make sacrifices to give their children better opportunities through education.

The film further highlights the importance of parents taking responsibility for their children’s future instead of placing their financial burdens on them.

The emotional storyline and social messages in Ama received a positive response from the audience. Patrons applauded the production after the screening, showing their appreciation for the film and its message.

The celebration continued after the movie, with musicians returning to the stage for more performances. The back-to-back musical acts brought the birthday celebration to a lively close.

The event therefore served not only as a celebration of McBrown’s 49th birthday but also as a platform to promote young talent and highlight important social issues through Ghanaian filmmaking.
